Miami is a smaller suburb and has a vibrant community feel. I personally lived in Miami for 16 years and have loved watching the suburb change. There’s no need to leave the suburb with everything at your fingertips, here are just some of the things I love about Miami.
Local sips
Back when I used to drink alcohol I would thoroughly enjoy visiting Grandad Jacks. So many gins to choose from! If beer is more your thing, I recommend Black Hops for a good dark beer on a winter’s day and the community feel.
Miami Hotel also deserves a mention, I do miss the old days of the “Sharkie” but they’ve done a cracking job in what they’ve created post-renovations.
All things food
There’s no shortage of great spots to grab a bite. I love The Source Bulk Health Foods store, they stock a range of fresh nuts, and a range of teas and chocolates. (chocolate’s healthy when you buy it from The Source right?)
Even if you’re not exclusively on a plant-based diet, you’ll love Greenhouse Canteen. It has a real locals vibe and incredible plant based food. Try their “Mac & Cheese”, it’s the best!
For amazing local takeaway pizza you must try Pizza Passion. The Antipasto pizza is delicious and Simon will do everything to give you the pizza you want.
In search of seafood? Check out the Miami Fish Market for the freshest, most delicious seafood. Great spot to pop in for a bite to eat for lunch.
Dog walking spots
I’ve spent many days down at the Doug Jennings Dog Park with my dogs, chatting with locals while our four legged friends live their best off-leash life. Miami Hill is one of my favourite places to sit, watch the water and take in the views.
Just for fun
Lumber Punks Axe Throwing is something a bit different and so fun to do with a group of friends. If you’re into music and street food, Miami Marketta is a great night out and they regularly have amazing local Australian talent performing.
